Why pick up Horse Manure?
There are many health and financial benefits that come with having a systematic manure management programme and regularly picking up your horse manure.
We must understand that the best fix to any problem is to eliminate the source of the problem. Worm counts in your horses are largely subject to worm larvae being present in the pasture they eat. Providing your horses with the healthiest pasture is the best way to keep them healthy.
"Eliminating parasites from horses is not realistically achievable. Horse owners need to implement a worm control programme that makes responsible use of drenches, as well as sound pasture management, to keep their horse's worm burdens at sufficiently low levels to avoid health problems and disease." - horsetalk.co.nz
By picking up manure regularly, you will slowly break the parasite cycle that is constantly being aided by the horse consuming parasite laden pasture again and again. Drenching does kill some worms, but you need to be sure you are drenching for the right worm and that your horses do actually require drench. If drenching is continued inappropriately, it will fuel the growth of parasite resistance to drenches. See: http://www.horsetalk.co.nz/worming
Using the Tow and Collect, you can easily pick up the horse manure, minimize the amount of parasites in your pasture, largely reduce the faecal egg count and best of all, save you time and money!
